Valerie Dorsey Allen, MSW, LSW Valerie Dorsey Allen, a 1993 graduate of Penn's School of Social Work, is the Director of the African-American Resource Center. Ms. Allen is focused on addressing the needs and interests of the community and on improving the quality of life for faculty, staff and students at the University with a particular focus on those of African Descent. "Valerie is forthright and personable. She clearly communicates a passion for addressing issues of importance to the African American community.",Judith Rodin, University of Pennsylvania president, 1994-2004.

Ms. Allen has extensive experience as a counselor, career development officer and administrator with the Dept Of Labor Job Corps Program. She has developed and presented workshops on many topics including Work-Life Balance, Cultural Diversity, Racism, Social Change, Sexual Harassment and Parenting. Currently Ms. Allen serves as the President of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Association of Black Women in Higher Education and was the 2005 Conference Chair for the PA Black Conference on Higher Education Eastern Region.

Ms. Allen has a strong belief in the strength of the human spirit, the wealth gained in appreciating your culture and heritage and the power of God.
